Chicken Stir Fry

how about with popcorn?

Yes, popcorn... drizzle some Open Sesame on your popcorn for an amazing experience! Don't saturate!

Butternut Squash a la Open Sesame

fire up oven to about 400°, I like using the convection oven because it also helps to brown it a bit.
if you have a convection, heat to 375°
Peel & chop squash into chunks, about 3/4" - toss with Open Sesame of choice!
Place on greased sheet pan and bake 30-40 minutes until done. Toss regularly to coat.
Top with finely chopped scallions & cilantro, enjoy!

Open Sesame Pulled Pork

1 Pork Roast (Butt or Shoulder - make sure it will fit in your crockpot!)
Applecider Vinegar (see cooking instructions for your slow cooker)
Jill's Kitchen Open Sesame Sauce - I like spicy for this, but kids are more likely to want mild

Cook roast in the slow cooker according to manufacturer's recommendation (mine calls for additional liquid which I use 1/4 C Open Sesame Sauce and 1/2 C Applecider vinegar). When pork is tender enough to start pulling, drain ALL the liquids off. With two forks, pull the pork into shreds as you dress with Open Sesame Sauce. How much sauce to use is a matter of personal preference. What a great change from sweet tomato based barbecue sauce!

Cous Cous a la Open Sesame

1 pkg Osem medium grain instant couscous (12 oz box)
4 T Jill's Kitchen Open Sesame
1 1/2 C Craisins
1/2 C finely chopped celery
Bring 1 1/2 C water and 4 T Open Sesame Sauce in medium sauce pan to a boil and add entire bag of couscous. Stir, cover and remove from heat for five minutes. After five minute use a fork to separate the grains. Refrigerate to cool. Before serving, stir in celery and craisins.
Options: stir in some nuts (I like walnuts or pine nuts) or chopped scallions. Or, add grated carrots and raisins, in lieu of craisins for a new twist on carrot salad!
Yummmmmmm

Homemade Winter Squash Soup (freezer to table in nothing flat a healthy gourmet meal!)

     - Leslie Dennis

In the fall or late summer when pumpkins and other "winter squashes" (butternut, acorn, etc.) are inexpensive, buy lots of them! Halve and seed them and place cut-side down on a slightly greased baking tray or shallow baking dish. I bake a lot at a time so generally every rack of my oven is as full as I can get it. When the meat of the squash is very soft, take them out and let them cool. Once cooled, either scoop meat out of skin or peel skin if it tries to break when you scoop. Process the squash in a blender or food processor until very smooth. Bag in serving size bags (we're empty nesters now so I do quart bags for us and a few gallons for when the kids are around). I lay these bags on a cookie tray so they will freeze flat and can be stored stacked and labelled in my freezer doors. For the prepared soup, simply take out a bag of squash puree, add chicken stock to desired thickness and heat. When I ladle into bowls I finish with a simple drizzle of Jill's Kitchen Open Sesame Sauce (we prefer spicy for this recipe) and some black pepper! A wonderful crusty bread and a salad and you have a fabulous simple dinner that chases away the cold of winter and tastes quite decadent!

(Not your) Grandma's Meatloaf

     - Leslie Dennis

2-3 pounds of LEAN ground beef
3 T Chopped Onions
1/2 - 2/3 C Jill's Kitchen Open Sesame Sauce (mild if little ones will be eating)
2 eggs
1/2 C milk
1 to 1 1/2 C italian bread crumbs

Mix onions, Open Sesame, eggs, milk and bread crumbs and set aside (in large bowl in fridge) while oven heats to 350 degrees. Once oven is heated mix meat thoroughly into bread crumb mixture. If it is too dry to form a nice loaf, add more milk and Open Sesame, if too wet, add bread crumbs. Once thoroughly mixed, place in a shallow glass baking dish, I use a large Corningware dish. I shape my loaf like 1/2 a football. This way the ends are cooked very well done and center is slightly rarer, if you don't need to worry about variations in taste preferences, round it off or make a rectangular shape. Bake for about 50 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a knife in the center and check meat color. If near done, baste the top w/ a thick layer of Open Sesame and return to the oven for 5 minutes. Serve and ENJOY!!

Two (Mom doesn't have time to cook) dinners from Leslie Dennis

Meal #1

Pick up a bag of salad, tortillas, mixed frozen veggies, and a rotisserie chicken at your favorite grocery (hint many stores reduce the chickens after 7 or 8pm by as much as HALF!)

Shred chicken, putting half in the fridge for meal #2. Grab your tortillas and fill with salad, chicken and any other side items you might have at home (chopped tomato, olives, roasted peppers, cheese, etc.) and make homemade wraps that the kids will adore and have fun with!!! Drizzle each w/ Open Sesame, wrap and enjoy!

Meal #2

After meal #1 cook a box of multigrain angel hair pasta and dress with 1/2 bottle of Jill's Kitchen Open Sesame Sauce (we like spicy for this) and chill. Next night nuke a 1 pound bag of a favorite veggie combo (we like Weis Peking mix which we buy on sale for $1/bag!!!) Toss veggies w/ the now chilled pasta and chicken and serve with a nice salad.
Two no fuss, nutritious, tasty, low cost meals you can enjoy at home as a family!!!

sloodles - from Angela Page

a kind of slaw and noodles dish - great cold on a hot day!
I had made these two dishes separately and ended up mixing them together on my plate and loving it.

Grate 2 carrots and a quarter of a cabbage, red or green
add grated ginger and garlic and onion [or whatever of these you like]
I used a cuisinart with the top loading bit (shredder).....add some olive oil and vinegar to taste and toss
Cook 1 lb. pasta and toss with half jar Open Sesame sauce
Top with the salad above and taste the magic!
as you try this you will increase or decrease ginger etc to taste.
I you make up a bunch, you can add the amount you like to the dish and have extra for other hot days as a great side cold dish.

And the Wine…

Dr. L. Riesling, Dr. Loosen Wines from Germany's Mosel Valley

This Riesling is a bright, vibrant, fruit-driven wine. Apples, peaches and a racy acidity make this classic, off-dry wine the perfect complement to “Open Sesame”
